Agricultural & Industrial Museum – York County Heritage Trust

Directions to Museum: From Continental Square in downtown York, follow South George Street toward York Hospital and turn right on West Princess Street. Proceed approximately 2½ blocks to the museum on your right. The parking lot is on your left. NOTE: Admission is free for each child with a program Sketch Book and up to two (2) parents/guardians accompanying the child.

Directions to Shenks Ferry Road Parking Lot: Follow Route 74 south toward Red Lion. Once you reach the square in Red Lion, continue on Route 74 south 1.5 miles to Burkholder Road (next to Mack’s Ice Cream). Turn left onto Burkholder Road. Follow to New Bridgeville and Route 425. Take Route 425 south 5 miles. Turn left on Shenks Ferry Road. Parking lot is 0.5 miles on left.

Clayton Ely Emig Park

Directions: From Continental Square in downtown York, follow Route 462 (East Market Street) east toward Wrightsville. Stay on Route 462 for approximately 7.2 miles until you reach South Broad Street in Hallam Borough – this is a one-way street. Turn right onto South Broad Street and continue until you reach the intersection with South Prospect Street. Turn left on South Prospect Street (another one-way street) and then a right on Buttonwood Lane. The park will be located on your right.

Codorus State Park

Directions to Park Office: From Route 30, follow Route 116 toward Hanover. After approximately 12 miles, turn left onto Route 216 (Blooming Grove Road). Follow Route 216 south for 2.4 miles to the Park Office on your left.
Directions to La-Ho Trail Access: Turn left out of the Park Office and follow Route 216 (Blooming Grove Road) south. Turn right into the parking area immediately after the 2nd bridge. The La-Ho trailhead is here.
Directions to Mary Ann Furnace Trail Parking Area: From Park Office, take Route 216 (Blooming Grove Road) north to traffic light at Clair’s Restaurant. Turn left onto Grandview Road. At the four-way intersection, turn left on Black Rock Road and follow to the trailhead on the left past the first bridge. The trailhead will be marked Mary Ann Furnace Trail.

Directions to Park Entrance: Take Roosevelt Avenue north off Route 30. At the first light (Weis Markets is on your left), turn right onto Greenbriar Road. Follow Greenbriar Road approximately 1.4 miles to the entrance on your right. The entrance is located across from Christian School of York.

Eichelberger Performing Arts Center

Directions to Center: From Route 30 West, follow Route 116 toward Hanover. Stay on Route 116 approximately 14 miles into Hanover. At the intersection of Route 116 (York Street) and Broadway, turn right. Continue on Broadway as it crosses railroad tracks and then take a left on Stock Street at the stop light. The Performing Arts Center will be located on your left in approximately 0.3 miles. To reach the parking lot, turn left onto either McCosh Street or Eichelberger Street.

parking space.

Directions to Boat Mooring Area #3: Take Route 74 (Carlisle Road) north toward Dover. Remain on Route 74. Approximately 4.2 miles after passing through the center of Dover, turn right onto Alpine Road. Follow Alpine Road approximately 2.7 miles to the entrance to Boat Mooring Area #3 on the left. (The access road to this area will be on your left after passing Forry’s Drive-In restaurant.)
Directions to Conewago Day Use Area: Take Route 74 (Carlisle Road) north toward Dover. Remain on Route 74. Approximately 4.2 miles after passing through the center of Dover, turn right onto Alpine Road. Follow Alpine Road approximately 2.5 miles to the Conewago Day Use Area on the left.

Hanover-York Trolley Line

Directions to Parking Area: Follow Route 30 west to Route 116 toward Hanover. Remain on Route 116 for approximately 3.6 miles to Hershey / Sprenkle Road (stop light at Hardee’s Restaurant). Turn left onto Hershey / Sprenkle Road and continue across the railroad tracks. Immediately after the railroad tracks, turn right onto Hershey Road. The parking area for the Hanover-York Trolley Line will be on your right, near the entrance to the Jackson Township Wastewater Treatment facilitiy.

Heritage Rail Trail

Directions to Brillhart Station Parking Area: Take Interstate 83 south to exit #14 (Leader Heights). Follow Leader Heights Road west approximately 0.5 miles to Indian Rock Dam Road. Follow Indian Rock Dam Road approximately 2 miles. Turn left onto Croll School Road and follow 0.5 miles to Days Mill Road. Turn right on Days Mill Road. The parking lot is on the left beyond the railroad tracks.
Directions to Glatfelter Station Parking Area: Take Interstate 83 south to exit #10 (Loganville) and follow signs to Route 214. This will require turning left on Susquehanna Trail and then turning right on Route 214 after approximately 0.6 miles. Continue on Route 214 west for approximately 2.2 miles. At the intersection with Valley Road, turn left and remain on Route 214 until it intersects with Glatfelters Station Road. (Total distance on Route 214 is approximately 4 miles.) Turn right on Glatfelters Station Road. The parking area will be on your left in approximately 1 mile.
Directions to Seven Valleys Parking Area: Take Interstate 83 south to exit #10 (Loganville) and follow signs to Route 214. This will require turning left on Susquehanna Trail and then turning right on Route 214 after approximately 0.6 miles. Continue on Route 214 west for approximately 2.2 miles. At the intersection with Valley Road, turn left and stay on Route 214 for another 2.2 miles. The parking area will be on your left at Eyster’s Machine Shop.

Highpoint Scenic Vista and Recreation Area

Directions to Park: Follow Route 30 East to the Wrightsville Exit. At the end of the ramp, turn right on Cool Springs Road toward Wrightsville. Continue straight (cross Route 462) on Cool Creek Road at the stop light (Cool Creek Golf Course will be on your right.) Drive approximately 1.7 miles to Haugh Road on your left. Haugh Road will turn into Knight’s View Road – stay on this road for about 1.0 mile until you reach Hilts Road. Turn left on Hilts Road. The parking lot for Highpoint Scenic Vista is on your right.

Indian Steps Museum

Directions to Museum: Follow Route 74 south toward Red Lion. Once you reach the square in Red Lion, continue on Route 74 south 1.5 miles to Burkholder Road (next to Mack’s Ice Cream). Turn left onto Burkholder Road. Follow to New Bridgeville and Route 425. Take Route 425 south approximately 6.3 miles (just past Otter Creek Campground). Stay straight onto Indian Steps Road where Route 425 takes a sharp right and climbs uphill. The Museum will be on your left in approximately 0.6 miles.

John C. Rudy County Park

Directions to Park: From Route 30, follow Mount Zion Road (Route 24) north to Sherman Street. Turn right on Sherman Street and then a left on Mundis Race Rd (after the bridge). The park is 0.6 mile on right.

Kids Kingdom (Penn Township)

Directions to Park: Follow Route 30 west to Route 116 toward Hanover. Remain on Route 116 for approximately 11.3 miles to Grandview Road (just past Hanover Foods). Turn left on Grandview Road and follow it approximately 2.8 miles to the third stop light. This stop light should be the intersection with Baltimore Street (PA-94). Cross over Baltimore Street and continue another 1.3 miles to Kids Kingdom / Penn Township park on your right.

Kline’s Run Park

Directions to Park: Follow Route 30 East to the Wrightsville Exit. At the end of the ramp, turn right on Cool Springs Road toward Wrightsville. Continue straight (cross Route 462) on Coolk Creek Road at the stop light. (Cool Creek Golf Course will be on your right.) Drive approximately 1.7 miles to Haugh Road on your left. Haugh Road will turn into Knight’s View Road – stay on this road until you reach its intersection with Long Level Road (Route 624). Turn right on Long Level Road and travel 1.5 miles to the entrance of Kline’s Run Park.

P. Joseph Raab County Park

Directions to Park: From York, take Route 30 west and turn left onto Route 616. Follow Route 616 for 5.5 miles to Green Valley Road. Turn right on Green Valley Road and follow 2 miles to Hoff Road. Take a right on Hoff Road (this is an unpaved road). The parking lot is 0.5 mile ahead on the left.

Reservoir Park – York Water Company (Spring Garden Township)

Directions to Park: From downtown York, follow South George Street toward York Hospital. Turn right at Country Club Road and travel approximately 0.7 miles to Grantley Road (stop light). Turn left on Grantley Road and continue another 0.6 miles to the park entrance on your left.

Richard M. Nixon County Park

Directions to Park: Take Interstate 83 to exit #14 (Leaders Heights). Follow Leader Heights Road west to South George Street. Turn left on South George Street and follow into Jacobus Borough. After passing Smith Village, turn right on Valley Road and follow down the hill. After driving around a sharp right curve, turn right onto Nixon Drive. At the stop sign, turn left continuing on Nixon Drive and into the park.

You will cross Route 30 and proceed through Emigsville and Manchester Boroughs. Turn left on Conewago Avenue and follow approximately 0.9 miles to Cassel Road. Bear left on Cassel Road and follow another 0.9 miles to the park on your right.

Veterans Memorial Park (York City)

From York City, follow either Route 74 (South Queen Street) toward Red Lion or Route 124 (East Prospect Street / Mount Rose Avenue) to Route 24. Follow Route 24 (North from Red Lion or South from East York) to the intersection with Lombard Road. The Red Lion Giant plaza is located at this intersection. Turn right (from Red Lion) or left (from East York) on Lombard Road and follow approximately 1.4 miles to Freysville Road. Turn left on Freysville Road. Windsor Wonderland will be located on your right.

Directions to Hess Farm Road Parking Lot: Follow South George Street into Jacobus Borough. Turn left onto Church Street (which turns into Hess Farm Road) and travel 1.4 miles to the parking lot on your right. You will pass the Lake Redman boating area on your left. The parking lot is across from Spartan Road.

Directions: Parking areas – both meters and lots – are available throughout downtown York. For ease of following the creativity station clues, parking is recommended in the lot across from Central Market (West Philadelphia Street), at Beaver & Philadelphia Streets, or at the parking meters in that area.
